Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX Mask

I think I have pretty established my ridiculous skin care obsession and masks seem to play an important role in my regular regiment.
Today I want to introduce you to one of the more unique treatment masks in my collection - Laneige Water Sleeping Pack EX. It may sound kind of exotic but essentially it's just a very nice overnight gel-textured hydrating mask. Basically it is an Asian version of the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask (review to come!).

Laneige Sleeping Pack Ex Mask

Laneige description of the Sleeping Pack EX;
Feather-light, leave-on gel mask for you to apply just before bedtime (sleeping mask). It penetrates the skin immediately upon application; infusng it with a concentrated supply of moisture while you sleep. Skin is lustrously revitalized the next day!Active ingredients Vitamin E Acetate (stabilised Vitamin E) protects the skin against UV damage and environmental stresses while yeast extract Toniskin encourages the skin to mend and tone itself. Bio HE, a unique ingredient derived from collagen which holds up to several hundred times its own weight in moisture, feeds the skin a continuous supply of moisture.
For all skin types.

Like a true beauty conosseur I have had some exposure to various Asian brands and in my experience they definitively take their skin care seriously. It's definitively refreshing to see a shift in beauty priorities, going from makeup to skin preservation.
That is not to say that their makeup brands are scarce, it just means that they  seem to understand that universal concept that if your skin is not taken care of then your makeup will not look as good as it could. I can't agree more!
Laneige is a popular Korean beauty brand whose essence is based around the "secret of snow water". Like a lot of other Asian brands Laneige focuses on brightening, whitening, hydration and relaxation.
It's a common misconception that desiring a whitening effect is an attempt to "whiten" the skin. That's absolutely untrue since the actual purpose of whitening is to deal with hyper pigmentation (acne scars, sun damage etc.) and increased radiance of the complexion as a whole.

Laneige Sleeping Pack Ex Mask Ad

The Sleeping Pack EX is a potent moisturizing mask that is meant to be used as a last step in your evening skincare routine, sealing all of your treatments in and giving a significant hydration boost. Laneige claims that one jar is sold every 30 seconds, which really speaks volumes about its popularity and product quality.
The texture can be described as a transparent blue, light gel but don't let that fool you, this mask is very intense so you really don't need a lot to get it to work. This also means that the 80ml jar will last a very long time - I've had mine for over a year and there is still at least half left. Definitively cost effective, if you ask me! The price paid is definitively justified for both longevity and resulting benefits of this hydrating treatment mask.

The mask itself has a soothing floral scent and even though I am not a fan I can see how some people can find it relaxing. Luckily for me the scent fades after a few minutes so I can enjoy the mask for its actual benefits.
I find that once I apply it on the skin, the gel absorbs but never completely loses the slightly tacky feel. This really isn't much of an issue since this is meant for nighttime use but the sticky sensation does take some getting used to. After using it for so long I don't find it uncomfortable at all plus the benefits outweigh that one tiny flaw.
In the morning I wake up to baby soft, renewed, rejuvenated fresh skin and the feeling that my skin is deeply hydrated.

In conclusion I can comforable vouch for the hydrating properties of the Laneige Water Sleeping Pack Ex and I suspect that individuals with dehydrated or dry skin will particularly benefit from using this a few times a week. Using this is not smooth sailing but again the benefits for me are definitively worth it.

I hope someone finds this review helpful.

Have you tried Laneige before? What is your favourite moisturizing mask?
