More PRADA Candy - The New PRADA Candy L'Eau

I have already written about my signature fragrance - PRADA Candy, which had been my all-time favorite scent and something I never leave the house without. I have been completely smitten with Candy since its launch, back in 2011, so much so that the rest of my fragrance wardrobe has stayed largely untouched for a very long time now.
The sweet, feminine and playful notes dominating the Candy formula fit my personality and look perfectly and for the first time in my scented life, others started commenting about it as well. PRADA Candy might not be as "sophisticated" as some of other the other offerings by the iconic fashion powerhouse but its that exact playful feature that makes this fragrance so unique.

My devotion to the original PRADA Candy didn't falter my enthusiasm and excitement one bit when I heard about the new PRADA Candy L'eau perfume. 

Like its predecessor PRADA Candy L’Eau is the brain child of Daniela Roche-Andrier, a talented perfumer whose genius has been behind all PRADA fragrances so far. 

Unfortunately PRADA critics and even fans once again had a lot of negative things to say about both the original Candy and its "sister scent", Candy L'eau. Apparently nobody likes a sequel!

Description;
Prada’s latest fragrance plays on freshness and joie de vivre and brings to life a fictional young female character, Candy. Evoking new expressions of Prada femininity, Candy is alluring, unexpected, pleasure-seeking and enigmatic.

The many facets of Candy’s personality reflect the range of notes that come together to form Prada Candy L’Eau. Playful, elegant and indulgent, the fragrance’s spirit lies in Candy’s optimistic world view as she declares there’s no better time than now to be alive.

Blended by Daniela Andrier, the fresh, joyful sensation of Prada Candy L’Eau lies in its mix of zestful, sweetly addictive notes. High-quality ingredients combine to form the modern and sophisticated fragrance. A trinity of white musks, benzoin and caramel are heightened by the presence of citrus and oriental floral notes to create a vibrant ensemble.

The new PRADA Candy L'eau is described as a lighter and more playful version of the original. The face of both Candy campaigns remains the same, and is fronted by a true French actress Léa Seydoux. I thought she was the perfect choice for the first perfume advertising campaign but she is even more impressive the second time around.

The PRADA Candy L'eau opens with a surprising light citrus note that doesn't last very long, then transforms into a very light floral sweet pea scent which gives this stage a very girly-flirty vibe. The last stage of the perfume development features the benzoin whose presence creates a very strong resemblance of the Candy L'eau to the original Candy but definitively with less intensity. The caramel notes in the L'eau version are a little more subdued and I can almost detect slight milky vanilla traces, which at times gave me the impression that the new Candy was definitively sweeter than the original (i had expected the opposite). 

In terms of longevity, PRADA Candy L'Eau preformed just like its predecessor and was detectable clearly for about six hours with light application but in reality wear time was longer than that because it actually lingered very softly even later on. 

Surprisingly the last note of this fragrance wasn't even recognized until the very end when the dry-out was complete and a wave of milky honey popped up, seemingly out of nowhere. It evoked a sense of comfort , and calm, giving me even more reasons to love my new Candy L'eau perfume.

I still adore my signature fragrance PRADA Candy and it will probably be my favorite scent for years to come, however the Candy L'eau has achieved a pretty good standing with me since I received my bottle. I would say that its definitively my second favorite.. for now anyways :-)

My Signature Scent - PRADA Candy

I strongly believe that every girl should have her very own fragrance wardrobe as well as her very own signature scent. 

It could be my European roots or my own girly drive but for as long as i can remember I have found the world of perfume very fascinating, mysterious and ultimately deliciously memorable. 

It took me many years to get this right but I believe I have finally found a fragrance that ultimately fits who i am and describes my personality perfectly in a single spritz.

PRADA Candy's sweetness, maturity, complexity and  intoxicating charm is my signature scent and if there was a substance I could fuse with on a permanent basis then this would definitively be it.

The fact that its also the only fragrance I ever completely used up should say a lot too. 

General Description;

Prada CANDY is instantly seductive—pure pleasure wrapped in impulsive charm. In an explosion of shocking pink and gold, Prada CANDY takes us on a walk on the wild side, showing us a new facet of Prada femininity where more is more and excess is everything. Magnified by white musks, noble benzoin comes together with a modern caramel accord to give the fragrance a truly unique signature

Style; 

Careful, Sensual, Sophisticated 

PRADA Candy launched in August 2011 and was headed by the extremely talented Daniela (Roche) Andrier who unfortunately received a lot of criticism for this fragrance composition. A lot of the old-time PRADA fans felt that Candy was too juvenile, too simplistic and not worthy of the fashion giant brand.

I respectfully have to disagree with them!

The main notes on me are definitively lightly musk-based, with sensual vanilla undertones and topped off by crisp caramel notes that seem to pop up in the end when the fragrance is completely developed.

While I will say that this is definitively a sweet, sugary type of a scent I completely disagree with the juvenile comments. PRADA Candy is a lot more complex and feminine than say the Aquolina Pink Sugar everyone is comparing it to. I own both fragrances and I can attest to the fact that while similar in terms of gourmand category the PRADA Candy is more sophisticated and musky than the Pink Sugar ever hopes to be. 

Fragrances and scents in general are such a personal thing, which is a big part of what makes them appealing in the first place so describing what something smells like is extremely subjective and can be terrible inaccurate. 

That being said I would encourage you to test PRADA Candy independently since chances are it will seem very different on you than it does on me. 

PRADA CANDY is available for purchase from our trusty Sephora store. It is one of the pricier fragrance options ($96 for 1.7 fl.oz.) but this is Prada after all so the price tag as usual reflects the brand. 
Most department stores have this is in stock as well however I have found that availability is limited so you might have to do some checking around. 

However if you love PRADA Candy then the hunt is certainly worth it!

New Lust List!

The Lust List with Eve Lom, Clinique, Sunday Riley

As you can tell I am having a bit of a LUSH affair these days as I am rediscovering some of my old favorites.
Skincare is once again dominating my brain but there are a few makeup items as well to shake things up.
Sidney Riley is a brand that has been catching my mind lately and their tinted primer was a game-changing product for me so expect a full review soon.
My beloved Prada Candy signature scent is now gone and its important to mention that this is the first fragrance I have every finished and I have a feeling its not going to be the last one. Must restock ASAP.
